When By Request’s Ken and Rick spotted an eight-acre wooded lot in New Preston, CT, they looked beyond the steep slopes and rocky land to envision a 3,400 square-foot home with a beautiful view of the incredible landscape. In conjunction with an architect, they designed an open-floor plan made for comfortable living and entertaining. Working with local contractors, By Request were on-site every day, supervising the clearing of the land, the blasting of stone and the building of their new home. Respecting the environment, they creatively ensured that the stone was reused on the home’s retaining walls, outside walls and the interior fireplace. By Request’s incredible woodland garden was chosen to be featured in Connecticut Cottages and Gardens.
